Joint initiative of Architecture Israel and the European Union, the award is considered the most prestigious in the world of architecture and design - definitely something to look forward to! www.air.co.il The Assuta Tower in the historical hospital compound in Tel Aviv has won first place in this year’s Council onTall Buildings and Urban Habitat Award (CTBUH). Designed by Moshe Tzur Architects, the Tower houses some of the better known celebs in Israel - Ehud Barak, Galia Maor, Koby Richter, Michael Davis, as well as the architects themselves - Orna and Moshe Tzur - certainly a statement about the building, which has evoked protest among some of the other celebs, claiming a lack of planning transparency due to raising ceilings on the upper floors by 3 cm (!). Go tell them this was done because of the celebs’ height. The Association of Architects has announced two new competitions: the first is the design of Sheba Station Bridge in Ramat Gan: proposal deadline - Sunday 15/9/20, 16:00. The second - the development of Kozlovsky Hill in Givatyim. Proposal deadline - Wednesday, 14/10/2020 at 16:00. (They never forget to emphasize 16:00, so they won't be disturbed in the evening). Designed by Asaf Lerman Architects, Tau Herzeliya Culture Center has been nominated as one of 5 finalists in the 2020 Architizer Award. The project was chosen by 400 selectors, out of 20,000 projects submitted from around the world. The task - a futuristic train that will connect cities and nations at the speed of an airplane. Israel Prize awardee for photography in 2005, Liebek has significantly contributed to the materialization of Israeli social iconography. Architect Ami Shinar’s exhibition aims not only to describe the beauty of his beloved city of Tel Aviv, but also, and foremost, to turn on warning lights. The name of the exhibition derived from one of his paintings, describing a large demonstration that took place at Rabin Square during early Corona days. Impressed by the sight of thousands standing at regular intervals against the background of urban walls, he named it "Shared House". (the exhibition has already closed, but its main paintings are presented in this issue. Paintings by artist Eli Shvadron are featured on the wall of Emuna College in Beit Lehem St. Jerusalem. Inspired by the book "Everything about Sewing", 1941, his paintings demonstrate an extraordinary capacity for humane expression. The Ein Harod Museum of Art has opened five exhibitions planned prior to Corona. Although each of them stands alone, one can observe an underlying root, expressed in a close relationship between physical and mental landscapes. The exhibition "Absolute Value" by new- pop artist, Jeff Coons is presented at The Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Coons is arguably the most important, influential, popular and controversial artist in the world. He is a unique, extraordinary cultural phenomenon who exceeds the boundaries of the world of art undermining the distinction between "good taste" and kitsch. "I am Haifa", an exhibition at the Haifa City Museum organized in conjunction with the Zionist Histadrut Archives, in honor of its centennial. Closing: February, 2021. Three exhibitions are featured at Beit Binyamini: "Upsidedown Situation” by Raheli Menashe Dor; "Outside the Lines" and "Together and Apart" by Etty Goren and Raya Stern. The Rehovot Municipal Society has opened an exhibition in honor of the city’s 130th anniversary, (originally) titled "Man is the landscape of his birthplace and the city flows through his veins". Featured at Beit Yad Labanim Gallery the exhibition includes works by 16 artists who came together to document the city’s gems through painting and photography. students Ecological Studio, 2020 at the Ariel School of Architecture presented the work of participants on Zoom. Moderator: Architect Matityahu Avshalomov. verging on architecture Born in Tel Aviv and a graduate of The Hague Academy of Arts, Ilan Aharon was supposed to share an exhibition with Menashe Kadishman and other Israeli and Greek artists, in celebration of 25 years of diplomatic relations between Greece and Israel.
