Buildings constructed with typical organic density created alleyways that were either self-shading or shaded with sheets of fabric. While in the past only important buildings were made out of stone, simple buildings of most inhabitants were made of mud, palm fronds and trunks. The Mosques that were funded by outside resources were constructed out of coral-stone and gypsum produced from streams and salt marshes. Nonetheless, it is worth emphasizing that in a global era, architecture is not only based on the availability of local building materials and technologies, but rather on imported resources. And in the case of the Emirates, this is also true regarding world renowned architects. The Louvre, Abu Dhabi The Louvre Abu Dhabi is an art and civilization museum. Located on the Saadiyat Island Cultural District, It spreads over 24,000 sqm. with 8,000 square metres galleries, making it the largest art museum in the Arabian peninsula.
