Adam Mazor’s partner in the Mazor-First Firm, currently managed by Adam’s son, Uri Mazor, and Eli’s daughter, Maayan First, who said the following: "Eli – father, friend, architect and teacher. Straight as a ruler, stubborn, human and empathic, he was dedicated to every one of his roles. A man of contradictions who may have appeared cynical, but whose approach to life and activity proved the opposite. Secular but orthodoxly spiritual. He loved music, his trees and knew each branch and fruit. A carpenter, painter and poet, but more than anything, he loved his family, his office employees - many of whom accompanied him throughout his entire professional life, and are still part of it. awards & competitions This year's winners of the Edmond de Rothschild Award for Visual Communication Design are: Yanek Lontef, Guy Saggee, Ayal Zakin and Dar Laor. The four were selected from over 160 portfolios. Jerusalem Municipality and the Architects’ Association have announced a public competition for the design of a mixed-use center. Submission deadline: June, 9, 2021. www.youngarchitectscompetitions.com events The Architects’ Association has submitted a request to the Supreme Court to join the State Appeal concerning the Kamri Case, which says that any person can submit a detailed Master Plan, while only the construction appendix is entrusted to the architects. This is by no means the reason we studied for 5 years, did a three-year internship like physicians, and passed hard exams similar to those of the Lawyers Association. exhibitions The Mediterranean Biennale – a joint event by Haifa and Sakhnin, will focus this year on the peace accords under the heading "Crossing Borders, Living Together". 60 artists from Iran, Russia, Afghanistan, Turkey and Israel will gather to create a multi-cultural art and crafts dialog. Eretz Israel Museum opened the season with the Biennale for Arts and Design titled "Shaping the Future – Dialogs between Tradition and Innovation". This year the event included ONLINE lectures and presentations as well as live events at the Museum. Occurring every two years, the tenth exhibition 40/40 at Architect House includes the awarding of the Resnik Prize for Outstanding Projects. The idea is to provide a platform for the future generation of architects under 40 during the period of their transition from employment to self-employment, when they stabilize their own professional identity. Testing the boundaries of materials (and the viewer’s intelligence) the exhibition is titled: "Strings, Love Songs and a Red Car", exhibits metal sculpture, texts and - mainly - an installation of string instruments laid on four chairs (two violins, a viola and a cello), in a space where a Quartet is played. The Munio Gitai Weinräub Museum of Architecture is renewing its activities with a group exhibition with BO-landscape Architecture, Lior Ben-Shitrit Architects, Amsterdam Ben-Nun Architects, Uri Cohen Architects and Eyal Ivri Architects. Focusing on performance arts, dance and choreography, the Lilach Pnina Livne Gallery opens its activities at the School of Performing Arts with the exhibition "The Good Sisters" where women in a group therapy session, reveal their intimate world. Drawing inspiration from the traveling theater culture, the installation, characterized by an ability to pack up in an instant, focuses on experiences of impermanence behind the scenes. projects Fogel-Shoham Architects was appointed to design the Meitar Council Building. Located above an observation point over a natural amphitheater, the building takes advantage of the spectacular desert landscape with an inviting presence via an open, light envelope and self-shadowing, created with two light cubes, on top of each other. Petach Tikvah Municipality has announced its intention to establish a National Heritage Center in Hayarkon Park. According to the plans, the Center will include a theme garden, "Maabara" compound (transit camps of the 50s), which will enable visitors to experience the trauma of the its dwellers. students The Council for Higher Education has approved the BA in Architecture program at the Sami Shamoon Academic College of Engineering in Beer Sheva. Starting in October, the five-year program will be good news for the thousands of young people in the south who still believe that architecture is a great profession.
