אדריכלות ישראלית - גיליון 126

2021 אוגוסט 126 חינה של הזיקנה אדריכלות ישראלית 87 | | The Kiosk on Lilienblum Street, Tel Aviv Tel Aviv's third kiosk, the only one that has survived in its original form, was built in 1920 at the corner of Lilienblum and Harishonim (Founders) streets, serving as a meeting point and refreshment bar in front of the historic Eden Cinema. The kiosk was the first of the 100 built during the 1920s, all of which were operated by members of the 'Gazos Kiosks Organization'. The hexagonal structure was built in an Eclectic Style with prefabricated concrete elements produced by the Chelouche Brothers company from Neve Tzedek; the wooden roof was covered with zinc shingles, at its peak was a lightning rod, and wooden shutters and folding awnings allowed for its closure after business hours. When the Gazos era had past, the kiosk served as a money-changing station. In 2016 the kiosk was renovated and returned to its original form with all its historic details and colours.
