אדריכלות ישראלית - גיליון 129

Flat of the Season - Basel Compound Tel Aviv אדריכלות ישראלית Architecture of Israel #129 May 2022 | | 20 A London-based couple and their talented daughter purchased for their Tel Aviv residence a 1970s apartment in the fashionable and bustling Basel quarter. Renovated in the 1990s in a gloomy pallet of depressing colors and cold materials, the apartment was a series of wasted spaces obstructed by opaque glass dividers. The starting point for the new design concept was based on utilizing natural light to produce dynamic silhouettes on the white walls, while opening perspectives to the urban landscape and between the rooms, thus producing a sense of open space and preserving the owners' privacy. Durable materials were used throughout - travertine aesthetic porcelain slabs in the bathroom, limestone tiles in the kitchen, and sea sand colored floorboards. Beams (some exposed) and columns emphasize the construction, guiding the movement through the well organized interior.
