אדריכלות ישראלית - גיליון 130

Hotels / Schloss-Elmau, Germany אדריכלות ישראלית Architecture of Israel #130 August 2022 | | 38 Hotels are often associated with liberties - liberty from our conventional routine, the house rules... the daily grind. Liberty from our bank account, to feel free from everything we may believe in and are used to doing in our day-to-day life: What to wear and when; what to eat (not necessarily when we are hungry); what to do between meals; thoughts about who was here before; who slept between sheets with an unfamiliar fragrance... who did what and how; wondering about the habits of whoever was here before, us and those to come. All of what we take home with us as "souvenirs", good or bad, depend on how successful the hotel is in fulfilling expectations, the success of which actually depends on three main factors: proper planning, proper management and uncompromising service. Schloss Elmau Castle was originally built in 1916 as a cultural meeting place by the Protestant philosopher Johannes Müller, who defined the project as "a place where a person can take a vacation from oneself." Muller’s grandson, Dietmar MullerElmau is the current owner of this, one of Europe’s most special hotels, which hosts, amongst many other exclusive events, international meetings such as the G7 conference which took place at the hotel immediately after re-arranging the rooms in which we stayed. The Castle survived Two World Wars - partially because it was adopted by the Nazis as a holiday camp, and after World War II, ironically, as a rehabilitation sanctuary for Holocaust survivors. Following a fire in 2005 the building was rebuilt according to the original plan and in 2015 a modern wing was added, employing the spirit of the building's past amongst the surrounding, fairy-tale ‘Cuckoo-clock Houses’ and lake-rich landscape. place of the season the schloss elmau hotel - bavarian alps - south germany Natalie Mann לוקחים אוויר בחמאם של מלון שלוס אלמאו, גרמניה. Evidently, simplicity is the best way to convey luxury. The design of the rooms expresses an elegant yet restrained combination of natural stone and soft furnishings, while wood-framed openings provide a rich view present in all parts of the hotel. If there is anything far from "liberties", it is the sacred atmosphere that surrounds the hotel. The classical music events and the natural aromas emanating from the many fireplaces lit around the clock flood the hotel with a fragrance that no air freshener can replace. I stayed there. I undressed myself from daily compromises and filled my soul with silence, which made me forget that it was a German Castle, far from the crowds and daily hassles which stretch one’s soul to the limit.
