אדריכלות ישראלית - גיליון 130

2022 אוגוסט #130 שינויים בתכנון בתי חולים אדריכלות ישראלית 61 | | | The Israel National Institute for Proton Therapy. Adelson Tower, Tel Aviv, Sourasky Medical Center The new hospitalization tower sits at the southwest corner of the medical center and houses the Israel National Institute for Proton Therapy in its subterranean levels. The innovative center, harnessing Proton treatment, is the first of its kind in Israel. Unlike traditional radiation treatment which uses photons, this cutting-edge therapy projects proton beams precisely at cancerous tissue, while avoiding harm to adjacent cells in sensitive areas such as the spine, head, bladder, and lungs. The institute is located in the underground floors in order to minimize radiation exposure to staff and other patients in the vicinity. The floors above (in addition to commercial floors and a connection to the new metro) contain the International Cancer Center, Center for Women’s Health, Center for Lung Tumor, Center for Gastrointestinal Tumors, Children’s Day Hospitalization, and research tower.
