Guest of the season אדריכלות ישראלית Architecture of Israel #132 February 2023 | | 18 Guest of the season The Forte House, Santo Tiraso, Portugal Bonnie Evans The renovated house expresses a renewed interpretation of the Muslim patio house, which is in one way an intimately protected oasis, yet also an integral part of the urban tissue. While the restored facade maintains a direct connection with the street and surroundings, the interior facilitates controlled interaction through a balanced system of closed and open spaces, decomposed out of the previously massive block according to the inhabitants' needs.
