אדריכלות ישראלית - גיליון 134

2023 אוגוסט 134 אורח העונה - סטפן מלקה אדריכלות ישראלית 25 | | | Walled City, Israel / Palestinian Authority The project suggests to use the separation-wall between Israel and the Palestinian Authority as an environment-mending opportunity. The ideological component is another layer in Stéphane Malka's critique, beginning as an active graffiti artist in the group of street artists Ateliers Frigorifiques, which had been active in Paris from the 1920s. Malka's idea is to allow local residents to reproduce spontaneously, without prior plan, in modular units placed on the massive foundation of the separation-wall, running about 730 kilometer. In this way Malka attempts to create, over time, a dense residential tissue, which does not differentiate between peoples, nationalities and religions, while the political reality only gets worse. Top: Spontaneous development using modular units. Right: A look at the separation-wall from the Jewish settlement Elkana.
