Porto Cruise Terminal, Port of

Leixões, Portugal

Estimated at a cost of 26 million euros, the project

serves as a cruise terminal for tourism with

(future) marina, the Science and Technology Park

of the University of Porto, a restaurant, events

space and commercial street between the city

and the port. The building jetty is intended to be

a striking landmark, while inside, the four levels

clearly define the arrival and departure routes

for orientation. The deliberately obscure opening

from the access road becomes clear only as one

approaches the building.
