B018 music club, The Quarantine, Beirut Port, 1998
Used during the French rule as a quarantine compound for illegal immigrants,
the domain was gradually populated during the seventies by Palestinians,
Kurds, and South Lebanese refugees. In 1971, the compound and its
surrounding wall was demolished by the militia, and the club, built in 1998
became an historical memorial for the site. Almost hidden during the day, the
underground structure comes alive during the late hours of night, while the
parked cars enhance its circular formation in the image of a star.
