Mourners and obituaries pavilion,
Pardesiya Cemetery, 2015
Designed as a shaded stage, the concrete
structure faces the row of grave-stones. It has
two entrances, one for the relatives of the dead
and the other for funeral attendees. A long,
narrow window at eye level allows those present
to see others coming in. Pre-molded in three
pieces, the "folded" surface turns ceiling into
walls. Among the metal trees supporting the roof
is an old oak tree, symbolizing the ties to life.
The monochrome colored concrete lends the
scene a sense of respectful neutrality.
