Pedestrian bridge, Golani Interchange, 2014
Spanning an area of about 140 dunam, the interchange separates
highways 65 and 77, allowing fluid traveling without traffic lights.
Located in the center, the bridge was originally designed in concrete
supported by a central pillar. But, for environmental reasons, it
was decided to design a unique bridge that would be a landmark in
the area. The 53-meter-long bridge was designed as a truss tube,
prebuilt in three parts that joined on site. Then, a granulite pavement
was poured onto galvanized metal sheets. The tube-like passage
yields a sense of a defined and protected space within the
traffic rush.
